Lesson 1 –  Friendship – What is Friendship, the Sum of it all.

1. Friendship is of more value than all worldly things. It is the chiefest virtue, Wisdom only excepted.
2. True and perfect friendship is to make one heart and mind of many hearts and minds.
3. Friendship can only exist between equals. There can not be friendship between a Servant and his Master unless their humanity is equal. Jonathan leveled himself by giving to David the trappings of their inequality, his kingly garments.
4. The agreement of evil men in mischief is not friendship.
5. Good will and good manners engender friendship.
6. Friendship is better than riches.
7. Be as mindful of absent friends as of them that are present. Do not let distance hinder your friendship. Friendship between good and honest men cannot be broken, nor altered.
8. Friendship does not exist where there is nothing in common.
9. Friends do not come from profit or pleasure for when profit is gone and pleasure is lost, then so is the friendship.
10. A friend treats his friend the same as he treats himself.
11. An evil man is neither his own friend nor any man’s friend.
12. Among friends all things are shared.
13. Friends should be chosen wisely. Choose your friends with great care.
14. If you wish to be a man’s friend then do the works that belong to a friend.
15. A friend easily forgets his friend’s offence if they be true friends.
16. One special friend is better than many acquaintances.
17. A good friend does his friend good and will defend him from harm.
18. If a friend does you ill reprove gently his error, be courteous and gentle toward him.
19. Admit none to your friendship but first find how he has behaved with other friends before you.
20. Choose friends from those who follow truth.
21. Persevere in friendship.
22. Better is an open enemy than a friendly foe.
23. Kingdoms are preserved and maintained by Friends and Friendship.
24. Consult and determine all things with your friends, but with yourself first!
25. It is more pleasurable to make a Friend, than to have a friend.
26. There are many who do not lack friends; and yet lack Friendship.
27. How pleasant to have a friend with whom one can be bold to talk anything as boldly as with oneself?
28. Bear witness against Friendship, than against Truth.
29. Do not care what riches you lose, for the winning of a true friend.
