Of Liberality, Patience, Use, and Diligence.

1. He that is liberal cannot live amiss.
2. He that speaks truth cannot be ashamed of that he speaks.
3. The lowly man cannot be hated: and he that diligently attends to his business can never repent himself: but brings his works to a good conclusion.
4. He is liberal that delights more in good renown than in money.
5. He that is patient and sober shall never repent him.
6. That which keeps a man from Shame is better than Riches gotten hereby.
7. He that doth not for his friends when he may, shall, in his most need of them, be forsaken.
8. He is perfectly patient; which, in his fury, can subdue his own affections.
9. Patience and good belief in God,makes a man victorious.
10. Diligence dispatches all things.
11. Diligence and Carefulness are the Key of Certainty.
12. That which a man hath accustomed himself for a long time seems pleasant; although indeed it be painful.
13. There is nothing so good to make a horse fat as the eye of his Master; neither is there aught better to make land fertile than the steps of the Owner- that is to say, the Master’s diligence.
14. It is as difficult to break a Custom long used, as to change or to alter, Nature.
15. Custom is, as it were, another Nature.
